Halloween at work

Well here we are, not all of us but most of us. My doctor likes to celebrate Halloween. Each assistant has an operatory that they get to decorate and then on the day of our party we vote for the best one. We also vote for who has the best costume as well as a pumpkin carving contest.

We had our party on Thrusday because Dr.Anderson was going to be gone on Monday ( Halloween day). We all showed up at 7:30 and everyone was checking out eachothers cotumes. Most people keep what they're wearing that day a secret so we show up to work suprised by everyones costume. At 12:00 we started our party which included food, games and of course pictures!

It was very difficult to have to go back to work after the party but we all had a really great time. Instead of writing everything in this blog Im just going to post some pictures that I took!

Taking a break

My mom came to visit me this last weekend. I am always so excited when she comes up and we are able to spend time together. I planned a little something special for her on Friday and I could not wait to show her. My momma was able to fly into Santa Rosa airport on Thursday night which is SO much easier then having to drive all the way to San Francisco or Oakland. Zac and I had a nice little dinner and then picked her up and headed back to good ol' Calistoga.

Friday arrived and I was hoping that it was going to be nice weather. It had been so foggy lately and it didn't usually burn off till 12:30 or 1:00. Mine plan for my mom and I was a relaxing day in the sun. Los Angeles has the Roosevelt Hotel for their pool and up here we have Francis Ford Coppola! I have seen so many people that have gone and used the pool and I have wanted to but just hadn't had the time. Well today was my day!

Zac had to get up early for work but I remebered to ask him if the sun was out and he said yes! I was so excited, this was working out perfect. I had told my mom to bring up her swimsuit but did not tell her why she needed it. I was trying to keep it a secret. We were able to sleep in and then we headed into town to get some breakfast. We ended up eating at Hydros which always has good breakfast food and then, time for my suprise! We made it to Coppolas around 12:30. My mom had heard of Coppola from his movies that he had done but she still had no idea why we were at a winery and had our swimsuits on. I went up to the desk and got our pool passes for the day and then suprised my mom with our towels and said we are using the pool for the day! She was so excited and so was I. The day was absolutely gorgeous the pool was gorgeous the weather was gorgeous, everything! We just laid out soaking the rays and enjoying our raseberry daquris!
We stayed till about 3:00pm and then thought we would head home and get ready for dinner, at solage of course.  Mom and I got all dolled up and had reservations at Solbar for 5:30. We were able to sit outside in the perfect weather and enjoy the live music and the freaking awesome food!

Saturday: We woke up late and went out to breakfast, again. I was planning on taking my mom to Cafe Sarafornia but they were packed as usual so we went back to Hydros. Zac was able to enjoy breakfast with us this morning. After filling our bellies Zac had to pick up a few things at Ace while my mom and I headed over to the Farmers Market.  Its pretty small but they had some beautiful flowers that my momma bought for my house. My mom has so many different talents and one of them happens to be arranging flowers. I wish she would of done my flowers for my wedding! I walked around and pointed  out what I liked and then we get home and BOOM, a beautiful bouquet.  She also bought me this really cute little bracelet that is made from an antique watch band. The french word etoile means star and that small white peice that hangs off is a salt water pearl in the shape of a star. I thought it was so cool and I love the fact that it was made from an antique watch.

After we were finished at the market we headed back home to relax for a bit. My mom helped me dye my couch brown which will hopefully hold me over till I am able to get a new couch. Zac was busy outside working on his truck while mom and I began to get ready for the afternoon. We decided to head over to Corte Madera to do some shopping at the mall and then have dinner at the Melting Pot. My mom had never been to the Melting Pot. Once we were done at the mall Zac drove us around Sauslito for a bit. It was so gorgeous being right by the water and it was still warm out! We were already hungry so off to dinner we went. The food was good but my favorite part about eating at the Melting Pot? Dessert!
Sunday: A day to relax! We woke up a little to late to have breakfast so it was straight to lunch for us. I decided to take my mom to a place in Santa Rosa called Crape Vine. They pretty much have everything there and big portions. We were stuffed and now it was time to do that Zac and I pretty much do every weekend, go drive by houses. We had a few houses that we thought were interesting so we took my mom to go see. Looking for houses can be so overwhelming. Zac and I are not  quite ready to buy yet but we are getting closer and closer so its nice to see whats out there. Fast forward to the late afternoon, I was going to make a delicious magarita pizza! While I was in Vegas I had THE BEST magarita pizza and I wanted to try to recreate it. Well lets just say it did not turn out how I planned. It was still really good but next time I am going to have the try a different way of making it. To end our chill day we watched a movie and went to bed.

My last day with my momma, so bitter sweet. I cooked her a delicious breakfast and we just relaxed at home. Before we took off to the airport we went into St.Helena to the Model Bakery to get some drinks and a snack. I of course could not visit St.Helena and NOT get my Guignis sandwich. Then it was off to the airport. I had SO much fun spending time with my mom, it is always a blast and goes by way to quickly! Love you mom!

Viva Las Vegas

Vegas and came and went so quickly. On Sunday October 9th my friend Erica and I hopped on a plane toVegas for the ADA convention ( American Dental Association). We were lucky enough to fly right out of Santa Rosa, which was awesome. We also got free wine on the plane which wasn't bad either!

Once we reached Vegas we loaded our bags off in our hotel room and then headed down stairs to do a little gambleing. After the machines took our money very quickly we were off to get some food! We decided to eat at a resturaunt in the Luxor hotel called Rice. We enjoyed some sushi and then back to exploring around our hotel. We had some drinks and some chicken Mcnuggets, 20 peices to be exact and then it was off to bed, we had classes the next day.

Up we got the next morning and headed through the excalibur, through the Luxor, through Mandalay Bay
until we reached the Mandalay Bay convention center. It was about a 30 minute walk! But we sure saved a lot of money by staying at the Excalibur. So pretty much to fast forward through our three days of boring CE classes to our last night! We decided to finally have some fun for ourselves so we went out on the town. We started our night at the Venecian where we had a delicious dinner! Then we headed across the street to the Bellagio where we got some wine and enjoyed the fountain show!

Our next stop was to check out some of the new hotels that Vegas has to offer. First off was the Cosmopalitan, we enjoyed a drink at the beautiful Chandler bar! The bar was just dripping in beautiful crystals everywhere you looked. What a girly place to have a drink. I wish we could of snooped a little longer but it was already time to check out the next hotel, the Arian.
We finished up at our last hotel and then decided to call it a night. It was about 1:30 when we finally made it back to our hotel. We got as much sleep as we could and then it was already time to leave. We hit the buffet got our shuttle to the airport and just like that we were back home in Santa Rosa. It was a great trip and 17 credits of CE's didn't hurt either!

Gunsight Rock

After having a fabulous Friday off and enjoying a nice dinner at Chevys with my good friend Erica I was relaxing at home cruising on facebook when I got a little chat. My friend Courtney who had come on our backpacking trip this year invited me to go hiking with her in the morning. I had nothing else to do so I thought sure, why not? She gave me her address and told me what time to meet and it was planned, just like that.

Saturday morning I set my alarm for 7:45 so that I could make it to her house by 9:00. Once I got there we hopped in her car and drove out the Kenwood. The trail that we were hiking or the look out we were going to is called Gunsight Rock. We trucked it up the trail and arrived at our destination in no time! What a view, just gorgeous. The sun was so nice and warm and there was a slight breeze. I could of taken a nap. After spending about an hour at the top enjoying the view we decided we were hungry! We checked the time and it was already 11:50! So down we hiked to go get us some food! The hike was about 7 miles round trip and if I can make it then so can you. Here are some picture I took while we were at the top.

Have to show off my gorgeous ring that my hubby made me!

Good Morning!

So I had this brilliant idea yesterday that on our day off together Zac and I could start off our morning with a hike to watch the sunrise, very romantic. We planned everything out so that we knew what time the sun would be shining and set our alarm for 5:30am. The alarm went off and up we got to head off on our hike. We thought it would be best to take it easy so we decided to go to Table Rock which is only a two mile hike. As we drove up the mountain to our destination it was getting more foggy and the light, well there was none. I started to question if this was the best idea to be hiking in the dark, maybe we should of brought some head lamps.

We made it to our desitination and it was dark.....like not see the trail dark. We decided it would get light soon enough so out we went into the black. When we got underneith the trees it seemed like it was raining, it sounded like rain, it felt like rain. Okay, so now Im thinking thisREALLY isn't the best idea so we turned around and headed back to the truck. We got to the truck which was not under any trees and there was not sound of rain and now rain, we decided the fog was so thick that the mositure was making it sound like it was raining so back up the trail we went! It did not take us long to reach our destination. It was lighter, colder and very windy! We sat up at Table Rock for a good 30 minutes before we decided the sun was not going to come out for us.

Bummer it didn't go how I had planned, but I still had a great time and we finished out hike with a warm breakfast and some hot chocolate! Plus its only 10:00am, we have the whole  day ahead of us!

Office Party At The River

Wednesday afternoon my office had a nice little "summer" party at the river. I happened to get the day off which was awesome so Zac and I were able to head over a little early. Most of the office showed up around 2:00. It was a beautiful day but it was hot! Dr. Burrell BBQed burgers and hot dogs and one of the assistans Martha brought stuff to make carne asada! We all filled up on food and then decided it was time to head down to the river to beat the heat! Manny and his wife Yoli got in a canoe and Zac, myself and Lorena were in a canoe. We took off up the river. The water was very shallow which made it warm, but not very good for canoing. It got a little sketchy at times when we drifted off into dead bushes and trees from the bank. Lorena was good about using her paddle to block the branches coming right at us!

After some fun in the sun we headed back up to the park and I got a large group of people to play catch phrase, it was so much fun! The next day at work people were asking me the name of the game and telling me how much they enjoyed playing it. I also had a ton of people come up to me and tell me how much they like Zac ;)

Anyways that was my Wednesday afternoon with my office. We all had a really good time. Sure is nice to take a break from work! Here are some pictures from the day.
